This film is based on a story of French high-wire artist Philippe Petit's walk between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center on August 7, 1974.

Let's take a look at the cast:
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Philippe Petit, a French high-wire artist
Ben Kingsley as Papa Rudy
Charlotte Le Bon as Annie Allix
Clément Sibony as Jean-Louis
César Domboy as Jeff
James Badge Dale as Jean-Pierre
Clément Sibony as Jean-Louis

The strong concentration required during high-wire walking impressed me. Most high-wire artists fall while there is only three steps left to the terminal point. The moment you lose your attention, you lose your balance. When Philippe Petit walks on the wire, the world of reality, all people, everything disappear. In the new world there are merely the wire and Philippe Petit himself. Philippe Petit controls and enjoys in his domain. A few days ago, I discussed "ego" with JC, and he gave an example of it. When giving a presentation, one who caring about how himself looks, how others think, will not perform well; on the contrary, one who totally focuses on the presentation will do better. Focussing on the present is so impotant.

Among these two or three years, sometimes I wonder whether the thing one loves to do should be one's career or just interest. The answer may be complex, including fate, family, chance...etc. After watching this film, I got a new point. The answer is in everyone's heart. The love and desire to high-wire walking is so strong to Philippe Petit that he can't bear to just keep it as an interest. He must do it with all his heart, with all his life. High-wire walking is Philippe Petit's life. But for me, cooking, traveling, playing the piano are more suitable as interests and recreations intead of being my career. Maybe just listen to and follow our heart, and we can find our way out.

Jeff is a moving character in this film. Although having a fear of heights, Jeff still accompanies and supports Philippe Petit to the last moment. He is a truly brave person. When Philippe Petit finally walks on the wire, Jeff's excited and exalted expression is so cute, just like what we would act when seeing our heroes succeed.

When watching this film, I kept thinking of one line in the japanese animation 銀の匙:"People will gather to the dedicated person." Passion and concentration are attractive personalities. And the feeling of burning for and wholly enjoy one's dream is wonderful!
